“Star Wars” Chewbacca Actor Peter Mayhew Dies At 74
One of the actors in Star Wars ‘ original films died. Earlier today at the age of 74, Peter Mayhew, who played the role of Chewbacca, died. When he died in his North Texas home, he was surrounded by his family. His family issued a statement through his official Twitter account. “With great love and sadness, the family of Peter Mayhew regret the news that Peter died. In his home in North Texas, in the evening of 30 April 2019 he left us with his family,” the tweet says.
When he was found out producer Charles H. Schneer, he began work as a hospital attendant in London. He was later cast in Sinbad and the Eye Of The Tiger before landing in the original series of Star Wars, his iconic role as the Chewbacca.

Over the years Mayhew has been unbelievably active in the Star Wars brand. In The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi, Revenge Of The Sith, The Force Awakens, The Star Wars Holiday Special, he performed for a few years. He would also be attending the Star Wars convention on many occasions.
His wife Angie and three children survived Peter Mayhew. On 29 June a memorial service will be held in Los Angeles, for his family and friends, and an official memorial will be held in Empirecon for his fans.
