DeMar DeRozan Fined $25K For Throwing Ball At Referee: Report
It was an intense Saturday playoff battle between the San Antonio Spurs and the Nuggets from Denver. The Nuggets finally won the game and tied the series at two games each. Perhaps the biggest game four storyline came with DeMar DeRozan’s courtesy. While trying to mount a comeback, DeRozan was called for an offensive foul. Unhappy with the call, DeRozan threw the basketball at referee Scott Foster’s direction. You can’t throw the ball at the ref, of course, so DeRozan was thrown out of the game promptly and the Spurs went on to lose.
DeRozan has now been fined $ 25 K for the infringement, according to ESPN, in what has been explained as “recklessly throwing the basketball to an official game and to the stands of the spectator.”

However, the Spurs and DeRozan need not worry too much. There will be no additional discipline outside the fine, meaning that on Tuesday night DeRozan will be able to play in Game 5. With both teams playing some inspired basketball, this series has been a back and forth affair so far. It will be interesting to see who can prevail and make it into the second round with the series tied at two.
